A GAME OF TWO HALVES ( but we lost them both)
A pleasant morning greeted the young mags at the clarty college with Longhoughton resplendent in the yellow and red of Northumberland which avoidedthe trauma of wearing the orange change strip for the Catholics in the team.

The game started at a furious pace with Danny of Troy refereeing in the absence of a qualified blind man and having taken his first match during The Trojan war, surprisingly kept up with the play.
Pop and Chewy were as busy as a superbug in a hospital as The Smiling Assassin almost repeated last seasons vomitting by running himself ragged. The defence coped admirably with One foot Donnelly repelling the invaders at right back and the Barron and Ryan ' cheap flights'Blair holding the centre. The left berth was secured manfully by The dog Biscuit despite being his weaker side. Andy Chatterthwaite and The Gunner started up front and distracted their markers sufficiently for Sparky(Glory Boy) Taylor to beat the offside trap and smash a raker over the keeper into the onion bag to go one nil up. Handsome Pete in wonderland! CRASH,BANG,WALLOP! All delusions of victory disappeared as we were suddenly 3-1 down as half-time beckoned.
What a great first half effort with Big Ben Crawford(BBC) and Alex'Grizzly' Adams on  as forwards with a difficult task.
The game resumed and Danny of Troy introduced his heavy artillery which proved too strong and we conceded another six of the best but never gave up. Matty 'The Cat' has had a tough two weeks but the league fixtures start soon and the onslaught should ease up. Ryan of Montague, No nuts Redpath and Puffin Billy Craft all did their bit in a very difficult game but I think we got a lot out of this game (well, counting practice)
Credit should be given to Sparky for showing his new wrestling moves in the second half and the work-rate of Pop and Chewy was outstanding. This game was played in a great spirit and despite the scoreline was very competitive throughout. Well done both teams.
Oh by the way, we even lost the raffle!

Man U at home 14th September.0-14
We turned up full of enthusiasm to open the season against Prudhoe Reds but guess who turned up......Man U! what could we do against the premiership outfit? They scored from the off and only stopped at half-time to resume again immediately in the second half. Well, there's always a positive, we won't use anymore diesel in that cup!
